HEAVEN'S GATE
Belief
can change you forever
or never touch you at all
It's human nature
to dominate
give it a name
Belief
can open your eyes
or make you blind

called a system
may give you peace and solace

cheerfully destroys another country
hate sanctified
love denied kills our spirit
Hello PTSD
Belief
shattered worlds
evolved, morphed, crystallized
over the ages
Belief
lives and grows within us
until one day - we surprise ourselves and rise above
or we remain sheep forever
Belief
blind faith
makes way for new discoveries
regardless of current doctrine
Beliefs in every civilization
come and go
die a natural death
Belief takes us to the next frontier
life after death
perhaps
Our bodies nourish the earth
Releasing our spirit
to soar - until
Rebirth?
Our soul - spirit - energy
illuminated
burning with the heat of a thousand stars
Free once more
to be absorbed by the universe
Belief
as simple as my innocent, childish dreams
makes it possible
for all of us to enter
The domain of the shining white light
to be absolved of our transgressions
welcomed and loved absolutely
Belief - a lifelong struggle
denial
scientific view
or easy acceptance
The child in me still longs to enter Heaven's Gate!

It all started with the photo I took of the sky and the cuppola. When I played with the image in photo editing, it suddenly took on a life of it's own, thoughts formed in my head, a title popped up and in the end the image demanded further reflection.:)
I thought about how childish my image looked, the yearning and my life experiences related to a belief system and my own spiritual growth.

Stacey - you hit the nail on the head. I had not planned on this as I rarely "write: on gather, but the image came to me, then the title wrote itself and the words in my head prompted me to spring out of bed this morning.
Carol - I appreciate your kind comment. The butterflies I found by accident, I think they called them stickers in the photo editing program, and I've no idea what drew me to them.
I admit I love the result, because it makes me happy every time I look at it. I think I'll see about having it printed on canvas.
Elizabeth - I am not surprised, I thought you'd see it that way.
