Saturday I went a few miles north of my home to shoot some cemetery photos. Imagine my surprise when I rounded the square, only to see it blocked off for some type of festival. To put it mildly, my camera and I were stoked.
The Art in the Park Celebration on Marietta Square runs from Saturday through Monday (Labor Day Weekend). There is no charge for admission and even parking was free.

Come along and have a look....

There was all kinds of art from sculptures and wallhangings to wearables and metal work. There was even some cool garden art stakes too!

The three photos below were painted canvase tiles. I began with a shot of several, went down to a few and finally to just one so you could get a feel for them.

This glasswork below really caught my eye. I love all the bright colors.

These metal metal moving art pieces were pretty neat.

The peices below were amazing. They are made out of rope. This booth had some other really intricate pieces, but the lady asked me not to take anymore photos, grrrr.

These scarves were so soft.

All kinds of various metal art was on display throughout the show. Aren't the little Shih Tzu pins and earings on the right cute? I'd never wear them, but I had to take the photo. They were available in most dog breeds.

The pieces in the booth below were simply amazing. I can't beleive what can be done with yarn/string. This was just a small section of a much larger wall mural.

Glass was a popular medium and not just stained glass either.

Big Chicken Art :)

The Big Chicken mosaic piece shown in the few photos above is a perminant additon to Marietta Square. There are several of them located around the square, but this one was my favorite and the only one I stopped to photograph.

These ceramic works were fantastic. All types of fountains from the hanging kind to those that are bowl shaped and either sit on a table or on a iron stand.

The photo on the left below is of long stem flower vases. Aren't they cool. The photo on the right is a closeup of the detail in the faces on the vases.

There were all kinds of paintings. Rather than photographing the whole thing, I chose to take closeups of the sections that caught my eye.

This piece below was painted and carved wood.

More sections of paintings I liked.

These two Shih Tzu dogs were enjoying a day at the park.

On the way out, I decided to make some of my own art. The photography kind...

Hope you enjoyed the show. I know I did!

It's been raining here, we're really getting a lot of wind and rain from Gustav. Looks like you had a perfect day, Marianne.
Okay, now back up to look. : )
Thanks so much for posting this to
my group
You should get a kickback from the Georgia Department of Tourism! All these photos are going to make people come to Georgia!
excellent job...
This was featured in Gather Essentails today!
I'm actually surprised no one else asked you to not take photos. I think crafts people have more of a problem with it. They come up with new ideas of hot sellers for shows and want to have the monopoly as long as possible. Yes, Victoria was right. They are afraid someone else will figure out how to do it and be their competition. I used to participate in craft shows when I did dried flower crafts and wreaths many years ago.
Thanks for sharing some absolutely gorgeous photos!!!
cheers,gayle
I keep going through Gather life forgetting people. I haven't been here forever and must have missed so much. I'm going back in your work. Thanks for what you've offered us.

I recognize some of the art, so the artists must have exhibited in New England this summer.

Thank you for sharing your day. Beautiful colors.
They had some cool outdoor showers at the seafood festival that looked like big flowers
I love the glass stuff. Never thought of doing some of those things with glass.
Hey - we are practically neighbors (in cyber world) - I'm from Nashville.
