Here's the same little guy from a different angle.
He's not as pretty here but still remarkable.  
He is standing on  the top of my Flip Dictionary, the colors you see in the background are the end caps of my markers.

Great photos of your buggy friend. I have no idea what kind of insect that is.
Thanks ladies....Don't you just love macros! I couldn't see the detail on his wings and back until I uploaded the picture to irfanview to crop and resize.
He is a beauty isn't he?
I don't know what kind of insect he is and I'm sure he won't eat much as he's pretty darn tiny. : - D

Bugs kind of freak me out with the exception of lady bugs, Katherine.
The big ones freak me out too Marianne...this fellow is less than an inch long and is no wider than a couple of toothpicks...The following bugs are cause to run screaming like a little girl...June Bugs, roaches, large spiders, daddy long legs to name a few...BTW I did see my first Lady Bug of the season today...hubby pointed him out to me in the back yard grass.

I think we should name him Justin Inch or Chris P. Critter. Not good? Ok how about Bea D. Eyes, Buggs Zappa, or Ima Freedoader. Great shot Kathy.

Left notes on the photos. Very interesting. I think you should write a verse, an ode to the little fella. Oh, oh, oh and I think you should identify him and then take a macro pic of his insect name in some book . . . cooll idea, huh? Or, even take a macro pick of "insect" in your flip dictionary . . . Just saw your bug buddy again. Definitely think you not only need to name him, but but a little leash on him so that he stays there with you. He is cute though.
My little friend was given free reign, I have no idea where he went! He's around here somewhere if Sammy the cat didn't get him.
