I was just spending a little bit of time on here tonight and I discovered something sheerly by accident: I often comment on an article that I'm notified about because I get e-mailed about new articles for most of the non-post-anything groups that I belong to, and then many times someone will respond to my comment but I never know about it because I after I leave my comment I rarely return to the article again (unless, of course, it's one of mine). So I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice to have the option to be notified of follow-up comments posted to the article on which one is commenting? Perhaps a check-box at the bottom of the comment box, that would send you and e-mail when someone else comments on the content you've just commented on. The default would be set to off and then the user (that's us Gatherites) could check it and get notified when new comments are posted to the article. I've found many occassions where what people have said in the comments is just as engaging, or even moreso, than the original content. So what about it, Gather? Perhaps an option could be set in our settings to have only one e-mail per day per article, or something along those lines? I know that in certain on-line forums of web sites that I go to, there exists such an option to be notified of comments that are posted subsequent to the one I'm leaving. Usually, only one e-mail will be sent out on subsequent comments until I revist the article, although this isn't always the case. So what do you think? Good idea, bad idea, doesn't matter to you, what? Inquiring minds want to know! :D

This is probably one of the most-requested enhancements, along with the ability to 'group' groups!
I agree that this would be of enormous benefit to members, and Gather was pursuing threaded commenting at one time. However, I believe that other enhancements have now taken precedence. Hopefully they are continuing to pursue this as an option.
There are several free services and programs that will do this for you, but Gather has now classified these as a violation of their Terms of Service (TOS) because they can inflate page view counts following an update several months ago. :-(
I would like to subscribe to certain threads to follow up on added comments on OTHERS content as well. My bookmarks are flooded marking all these threads.
The suggestion I would make is to add "spell check"; in articles as well as comments.
(I could sure put that one to good use!)

In the meantime, when I have an article I want to follow, I bookmark it. When the comments cease, I delete the bookmark. Not very sophisticated, but it works.
Take care.
in recent article.
So that's really annoying, so yes, the feature would make me happy.
