Opinion Poll: New Featured Links in Your Articles?

   So, what do you think of this new Gather feature?  Have you noticed that at the end of each of your articles, there is now a link-through to articles on similar topics, followed by links to other recent pieces you've written?  Love it?  Hate it?  Don't care?  Let's hear it!

   I can't deny that I enjoy the extra plug to my other articles.  But I find it a bit frustrating that my readers may be distracted by the links to someone else's work, and in some cases I stand to lose a rating and/or comment if they drift away from me.  I think that Gather cross-referencing other articles on the same topic matter is a good idea, but wish those links would be posted somewhere below the rating & comment box, or off to the side somewhere maybe.  On the other hand, I think most of the people I communicate with here on Gather are nice enough to stop to leave the rating and/or comment anyway!

   So what do you think about this?  Would you change anything about the new set up, and if so, what would you do differently?  It will be interesting to hear everyone's responses!

This is one of the things, that I think I might be able to get used to sooner than other changes Gather has made in the past. Now, if Gather would just stop kicking me off all the time....

What do I think of it? Related subject articles yes but I haven't seen any that were related yet. in other words it sucks.

I love the More By: articles but I could really care less about the related articles.

Maybe gather should just take them off! I know MANY people do not like them because they do not relate! '

Really they do not bother me thought I just scroll right past them!

I haven't decided what I think of it yet. I have never cared having to scroll down through all the groups, etc. that was always listed before you could vote or comment. If they could get rid of all that stuff then these new links wouldn't be so bad!

I agree - great idea, but I'd rather it were moved somewhere else. I never really cared for the block made by our groups we publish to being there, and now the area is even bigger and clunkier looking. My first thought after reading the article is to rate and comment &/or read the comments and I definitely feel twinges of annoyance scrolling past all that. But I do love the ability to jump over to related articles or have people jump into mine & see what else we've written through those related links.

i do get distracted from the original content, but i think i can live with it...
the 'related' articles are not really so great...they usually do not relate...

I cannot comment on this article, but had to check it out. I am new here and do not understand what I am doing anyhow HAHAHA.........Still working on this....well gotta go and check out other ppl and groups to get familiar with what I am suppose to do.

I don't mind it. If your tags are accurate, then you would see more related articles. But if you use nasty, goofy, or sarcastic tags, you'll get really weird "related" articles. Everything depends on your tags. So go SCRUB your tags! [smile]

They don't bother me - they give me somewhere to go after I comment on an article.

As someone only relatively active for the last month or so, I like the additions. And I like the ones that help me discover other work similar to my own as much as the recent listings of my articles. I think it's a good thing for newer members like me in that helps to know there people posting with similar styles and interests. I wouldn't change anything.

Don't mind it . . . just more stuff to scroll by, unless I'm in a wandering mood. Then I usually follow my people around to see what they're looking at.
