Aloe vera has been used externally to treat various skin conditions such as cuts, burns and eczema It is alleged that sap from Aloe vera eases pain and reduces inflamation.I have used it for skin wounds and burns for quitee some time Evidence on the effects of Aloe vera sap on wound healing, however, is contradictory. A study performed in the 1990s showed that the healing time of a moderate to severe burn was reduced when the wound was treated on a regular basis with Aloe vera gel,dry skin conditions, especially eczema around the eyes and sensitive facial areasAn article published in the British Journal of General Practice suggests that Aloe vera is effective at treating athlete's foot!
Whether or not it promotes wound healing is unknown, and even though there are some promising results, clinical effectiveness of oral or topical Aloe vera remains unclear at present.
Aloe help some people with ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease. Side effects can occur and consulting a doctor before ingesting any form of aloe vera, including aloe vera juice, is highly recommended.
The lower leaf of the plant is used for medicinal purpose. If the lower leaf is sliced open, the gel obtained can be applied on the affected area of the skin. Leaves and seeds are the two edible parts of Aloe Vera
In the small country of Japan Aloe Vera is commonly used as an ingredient in commercially available yogert . There are also many companies which produce Aloe Vera beverages
the plant has been used for centuries as a digestive aid. The dried gel is mixed with seeds of various herbs and consumed after a meal.I have drank the juice for stomach problems this was purchaced at a health food store, harvesting that amount would take quite a while!
People of India prepare a curry using Aloe Vera which is eaten with Indian bread or rice.
Aloe Vera latex -the yellow substance that comes from the inner side of the skin can be highly irritating both externally and internally. This is suprising news to me as I have ingested it and used the salve for fifty years. Some people who have reported adverse effects from Aloe Vera may be ingesting or applying this latex. Carefully removing all skin yellow substance before using Aloe may avoid such adverse effects. Gel used should be completely clear, odorless and tasteless. This a wise thing to have knowledge of.

We have some aloe growing in pots in our yard. It was here when we bought our house.
We have used it a time or two before for burns
You can buy a digestive aloe juice at most drugstores. It is a wonderful aid and can be used as a mild laxative.
Thanks for the article and I'm glad to see you are back.
Blessings,

I have seen different colors and hope to learn more about this plants different species.
out in the sun much to long and didn't keep applying the
lotion I told her to use. I had one of these huge plants as
the one pictured. I sliced off all the nubs then sliced the
leaves in half, laid them on her legs where the burn was
so intense you could feel the heat with out touching it. I
left those on all night long had her sleeping propped up
on the sofa. I slept (kinda) in the chair beside her. And
over night the redness was gone I was sure it would be
blistered but it didn't. I swear by this aloe plant. Once I
was at a birhtday party for one of my grandgirls. It was
a chilly day and the adults decided it was time for hot
chocolate. I fixed it and carried the steaming cups into
the parlor. I set the cups down on the coffee table then
I told my D.I.Law to watch the babygirl cause she was
eyeing that cup. Oh don't worry Barb she won't touch
that cuop. Ok, I turned to go back to the kitchen Tifany
babygirl had plunged her hand into that hot cup! I took
her to the kitchen and ran water on a towel told one of
the ladies to go get her aloe plant and be rubbing it so
the was out. When she came back I patted the gel all
over babygirls hand, arm, between her fingers. I told her
Mom to leave it on there, wrapped it loosely with sterile
gauze. It was left on all night long! In the morning when
she took the bandage off not a sign of redness.
I planted a few aloe vera in my garden too. Besides using it for cuts, we cook it into dishes or herbal soup too. I never know it's actually quite yummy until I tried it by myself. It helps to get rid of pimples too.... but, you shouldn't let it stay on your face for too long, perhaps 10 - 15 minutes is good, just like doing facial mask.
Kaka I have never cooked it! but kept it in mind for if lost in the wilds or such!
think I will try it !
gotone last spring...it will be ready to seperate into a few plants this comming spring.....
