I got a big box of books today. I don't know why the mail lady didn't ring my bell like she always does when the damn thing won't fit in the mailbox, but today I got a postage notice instead, to go to the P O and get 'em.
I ordered a bunch of books from Borders. I got one a couple of weeks ago, and I got the rest today.
The one I got a couple of weeks ago was "Inside The Kingdom" by Carmen Bin Ladin. (Yes I know I misspelled Bin Laden but that's how she spells it on the cover). She was married to Yeslam Bin Laden, brother (half brother? their father had many wives) to Osama. It's a heck of a good book about a Swiss woman's life in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and what it's like to be a member of the Bin Laden family.
I read that one as soon as I got it and anxiously awaited the rest of my shipment.
The next one was "Burned Alive" (a survivor of an honur killing speaks out) by a woman who goes by the name Souad.
The third one is a novel that Dorine Houston reccomended in a review awhile back called "Mirage" by Saudi author Soheir Khashoggi.
I have always been interested in the stories of the lives of women in the Middle East.
The next book was a copy of The Sedona Method by Hale Dwoskin, that my mother wanted, so while I was ordering books anyway, I ordered that one for her.
Finally I ordered a book called "Intimate weddings, planning a small wedding that fits your budget and style" by Christina Friedrichsen, a nam that looks Danish to me. I hadn't even noticed that until just now when I took a look at the book. I'll have to do some research on her. Since Walker and I are planning a cerimony up here, I thought this book would be a helpful resource.
It's nice to know that I won't have to buy magazines for the next couple of weeks. I'll have my hands nice and full with my new books.
Only problem is that Borders did not charge my gift card, and only used my credit card. I am in a bit of a battle with them on that one. I would not have ordered so many books had I not had my gift card. I'm annoyed, but I have proof on the order that I used a gift card. I am going to keep fighting this one.
Did anyone else get anything interested in the mail lately? Anyone else get a big box of books, or did any one else read the books that I mentioned above?

equally appalling to see shameless self promotion in the comments.

The one's that you describe sound interesting and definitely something that I wouldn't stumble onto on my own. so thanks for the synopsises.....how in the heck do you spell that!
I didn't get books in the mail, but I did hit the Library used book sale this weekend. I made sure to go during the last hour because then the books were 2 paper grocery bags for $1!!!!! I brought home too many to mention them all, but one steal was "Dutch" by Edmund Morris. That had been on my list to find since it came out. It is a memoir of Ronald Reagan.
There is another book sale this weekend in Morro Bay. Theirs are usually a lot better, so I can't wait!
And I got my charcoal grill/smoker today from Hipoints survey. w00t!
Enjoy
One of my humans got a box of books the other day. It wasn't a big box though. You can see me playing in the box here.
The books were: The Third Domain: The Untold Story of Archaea and the Future of Biotechnology, An Ocean of Air: Why the Wind Blows and Other Mysteries of the Atmosphere, and The (Fabulous) Fibonacci Numbers.
