I got to thinking today, I really miss working in the nusring home I worked at 6 years ago. As crazy as it sounds I loved my job and I was good at it. I started out making beds as a "personal assistant" All I was allowed to do was pour water, make beds and get things like blankets and things for the residents. After about 6 months I moved on to being a CNA student, we trained in the nursing home and were paid to go to class. The company even paid to have us take our state exam. I spent the next bit of time busting my but as a CNA taking care of the residents. Everything from Helping them shower,do their hair and everything else. It wasn't an easy job but it felt good to know I was making a difference in someones life. After I had my son I went back to work and was offered a position as an Activities assistant. This was right up my ally. I got to sepnd hours talking and playing games and haveing "Fun". By the time My husband got orders I'd been offered the directors position at our sister facillity. If it wasn't for the fact that I'd be working to pay a sitter.. I'd go back to working in a nursing home in a heart beat.

From the article you have written I can see that you loved that job with the utmost sincerity of just about anyone I have ever met...even though we haven't really "Met", I think you and I would be a lot alike. I trained as a CNA the summer I turned 20. I loved my training, but due to getting married and moving I didn't take the state exam where I trained, I didn't see much of a point in it not knowing a reciprocal agreement. I however that with all the sincerity and zeal you have for your former job that going back to it might be one of the best and most rewarding things you could do for yourself. I know childcare is a major expense these days, and its a shame, I do in home child care right now...I hate feeling like I'm charing these parents so much!:(
Focus on the wonder family you have, and see if there might be an opprotunity for you to volunteer. You have a beautiful spirit and I wish you the best.

Thank you, I really do miss the time. I learned so much. I'm a history buff, I'd sit in group activities and we'd talk about everything. We had days where I'd bring in a price list and we'd talk about how much a dozen eggs cost when they were kids, and then when they were married on up until today. I had conversations with World War One and World War Two Vets. One man was not only a World War Two Vet but Jewish so it was a double whammy to him dealing with the Nazi issue. We had a few 97 to 102 year olds who told us things like they remeberd where they were when they were little and the Titanic Sank. The Generation I was taking care of saw more than any other generation to date. I mean think about it, The car, TV, COLOR Tv, Computers, you name it they were here when it FIRST started. I also learned a love for big band music.
One day maybe I'll go back to working in that field, for now I'll look at my scrapbook and smile. I know I have Angels watching over me.
I would be glad to know someone as caring was near my loved one.
(If in a nursing hope)
May God Bless you.
Making a difference to even one person means so much.
