Tragic news - Obama's grandmother dies

I just received a text messsage from a news outlet that Obama's grandmother has died. That is so sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to him during this sad time

I just watched the announcement and, yes, it is very sad that didn't live long enough to see her grandson become president.

Nevertheless, we should all take care to be respectful with regard to this news.

I just lost my grandmother a month ago. Everyone has to go sometime. I guess it was her time. As much as I do not like Obama for his politics I do feel bad for him. It is never easy to lose someone close to you.

This really makes me sad, but at least she died knowing how much she meant to him and what a wonderful man he is. Perhaps that allowed her to die in peace.

I never doubted she was ill, I speculated the real reason was to get his birth certificate sealed, and now that she is gone, her testimony and confession about him being born in Kenya can't be disputed now can it?

I'm not sure he was even close to her... she lived in Kenya, right? I mean, he has half siblings that have stated they've only met him once or twice in their life so it didn't seem like he went to visit much. I hope she passed peacefully.

Really disgusting that some McCain supporters are suggesting that Obama does not care about her or else would have left the trail, and another one saying the grandmother raised her while her mother was raising her other family.

My heart goes out to him and his family. I lost my grandmother day before yesterday. I know what kind of heartache he is experiencing. She meant the world to him and he meant the world to her. The love she had for him is one of the reasons he's the man he is today.

Appropriately, Obama HAD to announce it at a rally for who? HIMSELF. So sad for him and his children who lost their GREAT Grandmother he's been too busy to see her for years. This is a display of Obama Priorities. You saw it first with his grandmother on her deathbed, second with his grandmother's death, next you'll get to see how it translates to Obama and the American Public. It will be nothing more than another 'screw you and what you need, I've got my own agenda.'

I saw Obama speak yesterday. His wife too. The girls were with them too.

Obama has no hate for the white side of his family. And sadly, he's involved in the race for the highest level of public office at the time his gran was dying. He went to see her and probably said what needed to be said. He's involved now in something bigger than his family and I'm sure his gran understood that. It's the sacrifice public servants sometime have to make. He is fortunate to have Joe Biden by his side - a man who knows how to handle tragedy in a time like this.

For the negative people: Obama's birth certificate has always been fine; Obama has never been ashamed of the white side of his family. Of course he loves his grandmother -- she helped raise him.
