I had another argument with my husband over expired yogurt. He was eating a cup of cherry flavored yogurt that had expired over 2 weeks ago. I told him not to feed it to Kyleigh (14 months old), but he wouldn't listen to me and fed it to her anyway.
My husband claimed that he had tasted it and the yogurt did not taste bad, so it was still good. My main concern was that it had expired, not a day or two, but over 2 weeks. The expiration date was there for a reason. I sometimes eat expired yogurt too, but I believe my stomach is stronger than Kyleigh's. In addition, the yogurt was flavored and any "bad taste" may not be obvious to him.
If you had a cup of yogurt that had expired for over 2 weeks, would you feed it to a 14-month old baby?

Ok... so it MIGHT be ok... Why take the chance?
Also... Just because it "tastes" ok, doesn't mean it is... You're not going to get sick RIGHT away from something bad!
In my opinion, I would not eat anything that is TWO weeks past the due date. I usually eat something one or two days past the date, but that's the latest I'd eat anything.
I mean, they put that date on there for a reason, right?
I hope it hadn't turned bad yet.
And I would ***never*** feed a baby or child the sweetened stuff that's stuffed with chemicals and corn syrup!!!!! I won't even eat that dreck myself.
Only organic yogurt is fit for a baby and if you insist on sweetening it ( a deplorable habit) then limit it to *fresh* fruit or *organic* honey or maple syrup!!! Never sugar or corn syrup products!!! Those are things that set the child up for long term damage.
Two weeks? No way! Not for me, and most assuredly not for a child.
Just to clarify - This brand of yogurt prints the "expiration date", not the "sell by date".
And your husband drinks Bud beer right?
.....I suppose Im a psychic! LOL
YOUGURT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doesnt that just blow your mind!!!
I called the place that makes yogurt once when I was cleaning out my fridge. I think it was Dannon that I called. It might have been Yoplait.
Andrea - I don't know about that. It says "expiration date". If it's "sell by date", why don't they say "sell by date"?
And for Dorine...NEVER feed honey to a small child. You should absolutely not feed it to a child under a year, but I'd hesitate for another year or so after that. I love honey, and have my own hive, but it's not for babies.
