outdoor definitely the slip and slide, i kept a group of kids busy one day using large paint brushes and buckets of water - they literally painted the garage for four hours before they bored, anything with art or making things like recipes for home made play-dough..My daughter loves to cook so recipes keep her busy..Collages are fun for all ages, poster board and an assortment of magazines to tear up and some glue..wading pools if you don't have a built in pool, nature walks, the little ones will love indoor camping, the older ones might enjoy scavenger hunts...these are just some of the things I've tried over the years of childcare....my 1yr old glass loved for me to bring out a plastic tub of water for them to play in - other teachers were shocked, I'd lay out a plastic table cloth and let the little ones literally play in the water right in my class room LOL, they loved it! I did the same with my daughter on the porch so she'd be shaded from the hot sun...the internet is full of ideas also , have fun!
Sorry...can't help you here Donna, I don't have children. But...my husband can entertained himself for months with a chainsaw and a few power tools...lol!
Barnes and Nobles is having a summer reading program. You child reads and keeps a small jounal (that you can print out on there web site ) and they can pick a free book!
