They defended our country, fought for her name.
Yet we gave them a home coming filled
with pain.
They felt no honor there was no glory to
share.
No one cared........
They were tortured and tormented, spit
on and shamed
All because buerocrats wouldnt take the
blame.
Their cries fell on deaf ears.
Blinded eyes never saw their tears.
We striped them of their dignity, Denied
them their Pride.
Is it any wonder why so many have died?
They turned to drugs and booze
to drowned out the wounds.
They ended up on the streets.
Looking for a little peace.
The heartache and pain
the memories and shame.
The truth they carry
The friends they buried.
They defended our country, fought for her
name.
Yet we gave them a home coming filled
with pain.
They felt no honor there was no glory to
share.
No one cared!

These are the men and women who have done everything in their power to defend and protect America, her people and her vision of a free world.
These are the ones willing to do some of the dirty jobs that others would not have the courage or tenacity to do.
We should honor those who stand up for our country. Without them and others of similar calibre before them where would we be?
Thank you for this poem, Nicole. May it remind us.
God bless us all...
