In 1968, a convention of beggars in Dacca, India, passed a resolution demanding that the minimum amount of alms be fixed at 15 paisa (three cents).

I always give money to beggars when I travel. Here, we call them panhandlers, and they are more scary than interesting.

Michael, Thank you for letting us know of the homeless in India in 1968. I wonder how many are begging and homeless today? The homeless are like you and me. The only difference is they don't have a job, family or friends.
