One evening, I went to the play room and told my 10 year old grandson, Turtle, to turn off the TV. It was time for him to go home. He loudly replied the show was almost over. I quickly went to the newspaper and saw the show still had another hour to go.
He asked how I knew. So I show him the TV guide in the newspaper. I also pointed out that the show would be on tommorrow at 2:00 pm.
Wonder just fill his brown eyes. He looked up to me and asked you can find out what playing ever night? Yes, of course, I assure him. He quickly ran out and called someone to tell them the incredible news.
Then I realise he only knew what was on TV by turning it on and flipping through the channels.
Now when he comes over, he checks out the TV guide to see if anything he likes is on or when.
He thinks I just gave him the secrets of the universe.
But the next day my other grandsons Spud and Yoda stood before me with their own copies of the TV guide waiting for me to teach how to use it.

Such a sweet story-Thanks for sharing!!!
What did you DO! lol!!!!
But get Tivo when they have those specials where you pay NO monthly fees. Ever! We just upgraded from Tivo 1, The first, to tivo 2, on a special promotion. It now records our shows to watch, at our leisure.
NO commercials to suck us into trying to buy stuff. Yay! We fast forward through them. I hate commercials. Well, I do watch the Target ones and some with cute guys. Some.
LadyN -- If he didn't learn it from me, he would have heard it on the street.
Jane C. -- I prefer Netflix. I just order what I want and when I want to watch it. I prefer the older shows. ( I worked nights for years so I miss shows like ER.)
Never mind that. Where is that book review (grin).
I'm a kind reader of book reviews since I write so many myself and then wince at what I forgot to include.
Christopher K. -- So does his Pop.
Marie J. R. -- Thanks.
Chuck M. -- I still bigger. (For now.)
GRRRR! Great article, thanks!
Thanks William. But it is easy to be a good Pop with such wonderful grandkids.
