I was warm until you said “Let’s go

For a walk” in the wind and the rain.

I was warm until you rolled over in bed

And pulled all the covers away.

I was warm until your frozen feet

Sent all semblance of heat out to play.

And I’m warm inside ‘cause I know you’re mine

My love. Happy Valentine’s day.

Whimsy and warmth come together in this great piece, Sheila. The comforter wars, and the shock of straying icy toes, give the other side of experiencing the marriage bed. I really appreciate how your poem highlights how love comes right through or in spite of the quirks and idiosyncrasies. A treasure of a write!
