How striking our ties,
our quickened senses;
our broken hearts,
our recompenses.
We'll add to the waters
a floodgate of tears,
and add to the distance,
an accretion of years.
We'll part in silence,
you and I.
The only witness
will be the sky.
You'll go your way,
and I'll go mine,
but we'll meet again,
in the flow of time.

I love your assessment! I could feel the complexity of the dynamics of this circumstance as I wrote it. I was envisioning two people who loved each other very much, yet knew it was in both their interests to part. Yet, she knew they would meet again in time.
