The question has been raised with regard to a specific form - the sestina, which has 39 lines. I have no objection to increasing the line limit to 40 for everyone. I wanted to hear from the members before I made the change. Does everyone agree? Are 40 lines enough?

I think 40 is fine. That way it allows another form to be tried. So why not? I think if there is a form that calls for more, then let that be allowed too.
But I don't quite see why you would need to write 3 sonnets? Isn't it one poem per person as a challenge entry? Well anyway, I will be glad to have whatever outer limit that is decided upon. Just so I don't have to actually write a 40 line poem... although perhaps I would get on a roll. ;o)
I like the idea of expanding the number of lines to 40. I think, too, it is representative of the interest your Poetry Please members have in writing for this group; which is turn is an "extremely" high compliment to you as our group owner. I commend the one(s)making the request, and very much appreciate your having asked the members about their preference.
