"Put a bird cage near the window so that the bird can see the sky? It's much better to look than not to, even if it hurts."
Klaus Kinski Looking out on Life (Ghazal)
I look through silver bars at the tumultuous outside world,
wishing it were as peaceful as my protected inside world
Chrome wheeled cars cruise by my picture windows,
stereo flipping my insides in an upside down world
Antarctic shelves melt sending the silver mercury higher,
global warming turns all land into a seaside world
Soaring gas prices, send travel costs to our son's graduation higher,
so only one can fly in a silver bird in this economic downside world
Sometimes SueB sees the perversities and humor of life all around,
and thinks she might be living in Gary Larson's Farside world

I can feel the tension mounting from the first couplet; and your choices of words to make this Ghazal blossom reveals your incredible talent. I enjoyed reading it.
I have been a resident for ages; and am called on regularly, to explain the cards I send to others in my family (smiles.)
I live in Missouri...future lakefront property, as we are at the convergence of the MO and Miss rivers. We'll be hosting the rest of the nation--shortly. As they buy the heavy escalades that are guaranteed to get us to the malls, rain or shine! Welcome to the midwest beach resorts!
I loved this. Absolutely loved this piece. It sings to me, chica.
Thanks, great write!
