So I was determined to try to get some decent wild bird photos while in Myrtle Beach. I took different shots on April 19, 20 and 21. Here's a collection of the ones that are viewable. I also have several that were a mess, lol.

As I was leaving a geocache site near Broadway at the Beach on 4/20/2008, I tried to sneak up on a lone egret I saw in a water retention pond. Well, you can see the result of me trying to be sneaky.

This bird was on the roof of my parent's home on 4/20/2008 when I was leaving to go geocaching.

This little guy was hanging out near another geocache I had just found on 4/20/2008.

The neighbors two doors down from my parent's place had a very busy feeder on the morning of 4/21/2008.

This male cardinal was actually on my mom's bird feeder when I ran inside to get my camera on 4/21/2008. At least he stuck around in the trees long enough for me to get a photo.

The female cardinal also made an appearance in my parents backyard on the morning of 4/21/2008. This is probably my favorite shot cause it is in good focus.

They don't sit still for me either jr. I have lots of empty frames and blurred tail feather shots too. Plus I was using the full zoom capacity for most of these since thye take off if you get too close!

Looks like ya got some pretty good photos, Marianne. Yeah, I know all about that whole having a bunch that are a mess thing! LOL I love cardinals! They always make me think of home.

I didn't get a shot of those pelicans flying in formation. That was when I was carrying my new (and apparently now crappy) camera. That reminds me - I need to get all the info out abou that camera, like the receipt and all.

I'm totally bored to tears right now, by the way. The weather sucks here today. Dark, dreary, looks like rain and yet it has yet to do so. I hate that! Either rain or brighten up.

I love all of your bird pictures, great photo essay. I try to get good bord pictures as well, and usually end up with nothing....

LOL @ Victoria.

It sucks about your camera. You need to find that receipt today and since the weather sucks butt, you should return it today also. Maybe you'll be lucky and they can replace it on the spot. There's definitely something wrong with the display and optics on it.

I agree about that last shot! I think the color of the female cardinals is gorgeous and it really shows here! But they are all good photos!

Great photos. I never have much luck getting bird photos. They either fly away too soon or they're so far away they don't show up well in the photo.

I think I have camera envy. Excellent job as usual. Although I disagree with Nippy, I think the gull on the beach looks like he trying to decide between the crumb and your camera lens.

I liked the female cardinal pic best too. She seems to be more skittish, I've managed a half way decent pic of our cardinal, but not yet of his lady.
It's tough with a digi, but mine has a nice zoom. a Zeiss lens and that helps. With all the great pics I see here though I am definitely wanting a better camera.

A pair of cardinals have taken up residence in our back yard. I may get a feeder.

We also have a woodpecker. It's rather annoying but still cool to have around. I haven't seen him (or her) yet but we sure know he's here.

Once you get a feeder Andrea, the woodpecker will come to it and be less noisey. I have a pair of big ones that come to my feeder.

I, too, liked the cardinal shots, Marianne. We had some huge bird (wild turkey) fly or run past our house the other day. I couldn't get a photo of it. I keep wanting to get some of the pileated woodpeckers nearby.

I liked the seagull. It looked sad. I was just in Hawaii and saw some red crested cardinals. Only their heads are red. They have three, count 'em, three colors!
