Good morning, Gather! Well... it's still morning HERE in California, anyway! ;o)
This morning I grabbed my camera and went for a walk around the property where I live in the hills above the little town of Cloverdale because SPRING is definitely in the air!
One of the first interesting things that I came across on my walk was this pair of unlikely hunting companions: A raven and a turkey vulture!
The two of them made several passes over my head so I'm pretty sure their association wasn't just happenstance!
Next, I was overjoyed to see that the flock of precious, little "cedar waxwings" that I saw in the landlord's corkscrew willow the other day hasn't moved on yet because here they were in the top branches of the aspens in the landlord's front yard!
And here's a little fellow that I haven't seen around here before... I think he's a "dusky flycatcher" but if anyone has a better idea, I'd love to hear it!
As I was walking back up the driveway, I noticed this piece of rusty, old farm equipment. Everyone here probably knows by now that I have this "thing" for rusty metal as art. I thought it looked pretty cool...
And then I noticed that one of the eucalyptus trees along the driveway was in bloom... I was quite taken with its fiery magenta blossoms!
As I walked, one of our dark-eyed juncos and a little "chipping sparrow" watched me from the safety of a couple of nearby bushes:
As I passed by the landlord's house, I snapped this photo of his lemon tree... Look at the little dark-pink and white lemon blossoms right alongside the ripened fruit!
But the best surprise of all was waiting at the top of the driveway right outside my house! Tree swallows were doing their aerial "happy dance" of arrival over my head!!! Spring is OFFICIALLY HERE!!! Can summer be far behind? :^)

You are quite welcome, Jeff! Thanks for coming by! :o)
Gee, Alexia... Kitty? Did I miss something???
I'm so very glad, Dorine!
I HAVE been known to go and pilfer a few from time to time, Lena... But "mum's the word", k? ;o)
Me, too, Charles! Thanks for taking a look!
I was so excited to see them, JC... They are just the CUTEST little things! I was reading somewhere that frequently cedar waxwings have been seen passing a berry from one bird to the other and back again as they were all sitting on the same branch until one finally eats it! I believe it, too, because I caught a photo of FIVE of them on the same branch! I think they are highly social creatures...
It it's beautiful ,area very nice.
C'mon up, Tinch!! :^D
