Brad and I took Madeline to see Santa Claus yesterday. He had taken the day off of work to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary; since he gets home pretty late on working days, this was one of our only chances to do this as a family.
There is an estate owned by the city of Elyria, OH called Finwood. During the holiday season, Finwood Estate is adorned in lights and features elaborate outdoor model train displays. They also have Santa Claus on hand for the children. People can bring their own cameras and take photos with Santa. The price of admission is a can of food for one of the local food banks. This sure beats spending some outrageous amount of money to get Santa pictures done at the mall.
I do not have a good shot of the house at night, but here are some of the lights.

The model train displays were wonderful. Trains always make me think of Christmastime. I took photos of two displays.

Since Madeline's 18 months old, we figured that she might get a little scared of Santa. When we were in the house, we heard some kids screaming to get off of Santa's lap. We figured that would upset Madeline. However, she was too distracted by all the goings-on to notice the upset children. When it was almost her turn to see Santa, she did look a little reticent.

She impressed everyone (even Santa) by not crying at all. She didn't even make a fuss! She just sort of stared at him.

That was good enough for me!
