Our bare Christmas tree is starting to look like a real Christmas tree now. I wrapped the gifts last week and put them under the tree. Kyleigh noticed the boxes, but she obeyed us and didn't touch them.
My mom bought a box of metallic ball ornaments and hung them up with Kyleigh last Friday. One of Kyleigh's favorite rabbit toy was also hung on the tree.
Last night we took out our White House ornament collection and had Kyleigh help putting them up. Kyleigh was excited about the outside of the pretty boxes already. Once I opened the box and revealed the ornament, she was in awe.
I taught Kyleigh to pick them up by the string and not touch the delicate ornament, and she followed. She handed the ornament to Daddy, and dictated where the ornament should go on the tree. Then she came back to me for the next one.
Kyleigh was almost having more fun opening the boxes to see what the next ornament looked like. I told her to wait until Daddy finished putting up the previous one, and she was impatient.
After all the ornaments were up, Kyleigh started playing with the boxes like they were building blocks. I tried to take the boxes back but she wouldn't let go. Daddy had a good idea and asked Kyleigh to put up the boxes (as decorations) on the bookshelves. It worked. Kyleigh climbed on the step ladder and dictated where the boxes should go.
Now we just need to put up the rest of the gift boxes (some still not wrapped, and some haven't arrived), and the Christmas Tree will be all set. We are not getting any more ornaments because we want to do the thing where everyone gets one new ornament every year from now on.
