I am big on decorating. I love Christmas. Heck, I love all holidays that I can redecorate if only for a few weeks. But Christmas is my favorite.
Most of our ornaments are handmade or appear to be handmade. I prefer the 'northwoods' look. The 'big' tree is decorated with 300 lights and probably at least 200 ornaments. It's about 8' tall and the angel at the top is handmade. Her 'gown' is combed lambs wool. She has the tiniest embroidery hoop in her hands that whoever made it, took the time to actually embroider holly on it. The hoop is about the size of a nickel. My husband is not fond of this particular angel but you can see who wins out every year. lol The tree skirt is quilted, reversible, and also handmade.
I asked for a 'faux' mantle before Christmas. I knew with all the kids being here the stockings should have a mantle. So, out to Menards we went and bought a piece of pine. I would've been happy for him to bring it home and hang it but NOOOOOOOOOO, he does nothing halfway. A few days after we bought the wood, he brings up this beautiful mantle. So, they stockings were hung by the chimney with care.
Now, most of you know we live in Wisconsin. Home of beer, cheese, blah, blah, blah. We don't drink. BUT Morgan's mommy told her that in Wisconsin you left cookies and milk for Santa and beer for the deer. Notice the beer next to the plate of cookies. A note was also left explaining it all to him.
Santa arrived about midnight. Right on time. The tree was stuffed clear to the back wall. We over spent, over indulged, and over did it all but it was worth it. Everyone was happy.
The kids left with full trunks and lots of hugs and kisses. It was a great Christmas for us. It's the first time in several years we have all been together at Christmas. We had a blast.
