What are your ideas for a romantic evening? A walk on the beach, candlelight dinners, perhaps? Do you remember when your love was young? What did you do that was romantic?
I'd consider almost anything to be romantic as long as I got to spend time with that special someone. I just never get the opportunity to have someone to spend that time with...7 years and still waiting for my first romantic date. I've given up at this point...another event I'll never get to experience in my life.
I hope in time Rob you do find that special someone, as you are a very special guy. I know how it feels. I remember well. I had a time when I was alone for 6 1/2 years. If not for my children, then, the loniness would have consumed me. When I finally did find someone, they turned out to be heartbreakers. This relationship, I am now in, I believe, is the one I sought all these years. I was almost 49 years old by then. Long time to wait for real love. But it can happen Rob. I know I didn't think it would ever, and very few could have convinced me it would prior to that. I truly believed that the rest of my years, would be spent alone.
I just love spending time together - the conscious effort to avoid distractions outside of ourselves. The best romantic evenings were when we planned it, did something we enjoyed, and saw the effort of planning coming to fruition - together. The nights when I would serve my husband, pamper him, and make him feel special and that what he wants and loves to do are important to me. That has always drawn us closer.
That, and our late night discussions about our lives, and our relationship. Taking a moment to step back and objectively talk about the areas that are great and what we need to work on. That's one of the most romantic and intimate things we do - talk about our future, ourselves, and how to grow together. Getting from point A to point B. And then celebrating when we reach make another step in the right direction.
Sounds like you have a good handle on romance Michelle, as well as relationships. The one thing you both do, that few couples do much of anymore is communicate. It brings you closer, and lets you both know where your at. It helps to keep things that may hurt in a relationship, from festering and becoming more of an issue, had they not been addressed, when they started. You can see them head on, and work them out. If there are problems in a relationship, and they are not communicated early on, then you can be sure that romance, will not be there.
Romance. I forgot what that word means right now. When you have a five and three year old in the home, sometimes romance is not always ready available. You are so tired after they go to bed, you just crash wherever you land. ha ha ha I remember my husband and I's first date and it was romantic. We went out to dinner, and to a movie. We were talking so much that we missed the first half of the movie and didn't know what was going on. We ended up leaving and went for a walk by the river. Now on every anniversary, we go on a walk by the river. That's romantic to me.
LOL Monica, I remember well how kids can wear you down, to where the only thing on your mind is when will I get to relax, or go to sleep. Ah those first dates! Seems you could talk about anything and everything and forget the rest of the world. Even with children romance can still be had. You just have to plot "us time." Just cuddling up, to a good movie alone together, perhaps while the children are visiting grandma and grandpa. Or even just stealing a kiss! I like how you make it an anniverasry thing to walk by the river. That does sound romantic.
I like quiet walks outside, or sitting and watching a thunderstorm roll in. I would LOVE walks on the beach, but that would require actually living near a beach.

Kasey and I were so lucky we had 10 byears of romance and I can't recall a time if we hadn't a thing tpo say we could just drift off into one anothers eyes
