Product Review – Listerine Smart Rinse Mouthwash

I can't say I have ever heard of anyone who enjoys brushing their teeth, but it's something we all should be doing at least twice a day. I typically notice new dental products as they become available in stores and recently came across Listerine Smart Rinse. I tend to be very favorable towards any Listerine product in general from years of use. So when I spotted the Smart Rise, I wanted to try it.

Although it's marketed as a product for children, I purchased it anyway. The kid's products tend to taste better and work just as well in my opinion. As another example, I have been using a kid's flavored floss product for years.

I have a high decay rate due to poor enamel caused from years of braces, the cement from the braces pulling off layers of enamel once they were removed, and poor brushing techniques while my braces were on. As a result, I need to use fluoride to help strengthen my tooth enamel.

Before purchasing the Smart Rise, I used another Listerine Whitening mouthwash with fluoride. I've also used Plax and ACT in the past as well. Not only have I used these products as a rinse agent, as they are intended, but I typically brush at night with them before doing the rinsing thing. My mouth always tastes terrible in the morning if I use toothpaste and I have found that the rinse agents are a fantastic substitute for toothpaste come p.m. brushing time.

I purchased the smaller 250 ml size in mint flavor initially to see if I liked the product. Now that it is almost gone, I plan to purchase the larger size on my next shopping visit. I have been very pleased with the results of using this product nightly for the past several weeks. After brushing and then rinsing with the product, I can really feel a difference in my teeth. Plus my breath is fresh too. My mouth simply feels cleaner and I have noticed that the puffiness in my gums that comes and goes has not resurfaced while using the product.
