Cool trick. My parents once wrapped up a TV antenna as a gift to me, and told me that is what my christmas gift was, just a TV antenna. I kept asking where the TV was, they finally told me it was in the basement. I guess it was too big for them to wrap up, so they left it down there.

LOL...I've done that to my kids too...one year we filled all the stockings with coal and left the tree empty. All the presents were across the street at my brother's house instead of my parent's....the kids just didn't know what to do or say....and it wasn't just my kids...it was my neices too.

I could not help laughing Heather. This is the kind of things we do in our family all the time. Or we wrap empty boxes 100's of times and put the real gift somewhere else. When they open the box they find a note telling them where the real gift is.

ROFL- we've done something -very- similiar to the kids before.

A few years ago, hubby got a PS2 when his first PS2 had died, so I had the box kicking around in the closet. Well, I needed something to pack a gift in at Christmas, so I used that- it was coffee stuff for hubby.

Every year, though, I leave a few small things unwrapped (I used to love seeing something immediatly under the tree as a child), so with the box, I put a ribbon and bow on it, and Nick's name tag.

The kids came running into the bedroom to tell us there was a new PS2 under the tree for dad, and could they please have his "old" one?
