Does this make sense?

As I was driving after work, in the nearby city, (lol 34 miles away) , for whatever reason, I noticed alot of banks are being built. In our crumbling economy, where the almighty dollar, is worth a mere more than pennies anymore, this somehow doesn't seem to make sense to me. Is there something I may not be considering, that may explain, this boon in banks going up left and right, and right accross from each other no less? Maybe its just this particular area? Or does the banking industry see something we don't? Are banks being put up near you in droves? Just curious on this and would like a little imput. Have a great Gather nite!

no, it definitely doesn't make sense...

neither does all the tons and tons of condos and houses being built with all the people losing their homes right now...I say build some apartments!

I'm with you on building apartments, particulary ones that are based on income. And not just for seniors only. I have to consider myself fortunate I was able to purchase my home before the economy got as bad as it is now.

Banks are making tons of money because so many people are living off credit instead of earned dollars. Banks are rolling in the interest right now.

Lol...I see that happening in my area as well. I guess they want to fool the tourist and visitors that come in thinking the economy isn't being affected in many areas.

Its all about money money money, even with the economy going south.
That is odd. Something like that happened in the 80s after the savings and loan scandal. All the big savings and loans went belly-up. A lot of houses got repossessed. A lot of people filed for bankruptcy. But at the same time a lot of smaller commercial banks opened branches. Maybe they thought they could fill a niche opening up since the big guys were going down? There must be some business logic behind it.
We have banks being built and then some are going out of business. Same with houses, and why are they building so big, anyways? Someone moves in - a little while later there's a For Sale sign on it and the house is already empty. Sad, and nope, no sense at all!
