Geography lessons never learned

Since I always sucked at Geography I am going to throw what I hope would be an easy one out there. Name the state you are from (city or province if it is in another country) and the capital of that state or area. In a perfect world I would get at least 50 comments here covering all ofthe states. Throw in the state nickname if you'd like to do so.

Mine is Delaware with Dover being the capital and two nicknames being "the small wonder" and the "first state"
