I volunteer at my son's school! I'm a mom helper in class, a PTO member, the Box Tops coordinator and whtever else I can do to help out! I LVOE helping out whenever I possibly can!

I used to volunteer a lot at my kids' schools when they were younger. Now, I volunteer in a local community arts group that provides free concerts to the area and I am an active member of Rotary which does a LOT of good in the community and worldwide through volunteer and financial support efforts. Whenever we can, my husband and I also do ad hoc things like fixing homes for Habitat.
I am a 20+ year volunteer at University of Iowa Hospital where I have read to patients, made baby hats, transported patients to events in the hospital and sung in the hospital choir, the Heartbeats. I have over 1400 volunteer hours there. I have also volunteered at the elementary school near me for the past 6 yrs.+ and work with a 2nd grade class to help the children improve their reading skills. I spend Tuesday and Thurs mornings at the school. Have also volunteered for the local library helping with children's events and reading for toddlers story hour.
This will be the 16th year that I have served as a volunteer chaplain at a local hospital, I also volunteer 2 days a month doing eliigibility interviews at our local free clinic. I do believe that I am very blessed, and this is my way of giving back.
I also contribute paintings that have been in my inventory 3 years or longer to charitable groups that are having fund-raisers or auctions.
My husband and I are volunteers in a non-profit agency that prevents drug abuse, smoking, alcohol abuse, and child abuse. It also gives parenting classes and homework help to kids and much more. My husband and I have been the cooks for a year. We make dinner 3 nights a week through the school year and 4 days a week in summer for 35 to 50 parents and children.

I volunteer at my kids' schools, I coached soccer for 4 years, was on the soccer board, and I direct children's theater. I also do whatever else I get roped into because I don't know how to tell anyone no.
