Proper Etiquette?

My husband and I were rushing around this morning (as much as I can rush with my back acting the way it is). We left the house and I immediately got jumped on by the next door neighbor's puppy. This puppy is probably 4 months or 5 months old, and already he is about twice the size of my pleasantly plump cocker spaniel! Anyway, I noticed that he had broken his leash, so I was freantic as to what to do! I didn't want him to get hit by a car! We have road construction nearby, so all the traffic is diverted onto my street!

So I looked over and saw their back screened in porch. I decided to try the door, and it was unlocked. I put Jake inside and we had to rush off. When I got back home I put a note on their door.

Was this the right thing to do? I feel bad opening that door, but I didn't know what else I could do! I don't want them to think I'm nosy or something, I just was worried he would run away or something.

I think you did the right thing. You certainly couldn't let the poor little guy get hit by a car.

I would be very thankful if you did that to me. If you didn't do anything and he got hurt it would be sad. You definitely did the right thing!

Thanks everyone, I feel a lot better! That is why I left the note too so they wouldn't think I was trying to beat into their house or something!

I think you definitely made the right decision. They will be very grateful that you noticed their puppy had gotten loose, and will be happy to find him safe and sound on the porch!

Just talked to said neighbors and they were really happy that I did that! Eric even thanked me! now I feel better!
