I was watching Good Morning America the other day. Paula Deen had a segment promoting her new book "The Deen Family Cookbook." She showed a version of her Monkey Bread that her step-daughter came up with - instead of Pillsbury biscuits (which Paula uses), her step-daughter used Crescent Dough.
I had some crescent dough but I already had something planned for it and didn't want to use it. Instead, I checked one of my books - a book by Beth Hensperger - and took a recipe for Hot Cross Buns but just made the dough in my bread machine.
I followed the recipe of Paula's recipe - making the caramel to drizzle over the top and putting the banana and chocolate chips inside each piece of dough.
Well - it was a huge hit around here.
Here is Paula's recipe on the Good Morning America website:

Tomorrow I'll find the Beth Hensperger recipe and post about it. It was really easy to use and the dough came out great. Perfect for what I needed it for.
