I think it's been slow...not a lot of new stuff postings...a lot of people seem disgusted and are leaving. I still love it and have made new friends, but it just doesn't seem as friendly lately....just my perception of course.

I don't know. We haven't totally moved to boomertowne. That will never match gather's functionality. We have lost a lot of people, but I think that is due to boredom, life issues, and copyright issues at that.

I post a lot and get interesting replies. Have had some good debates and a few who are argumentive and keep changing the subject. I'm with J.Clifford on this. There is alot of junk but then a lot of good stuff like any other social network site.

I love it! Where else can you get gift cards for writing and networking? If alot of people out there knew how much money you make freelancing, they would think it's a million times easier to make money/giftcards on Gather than sending out a few hundred emails a day and getting MAYBE 2 or 3 magazines to bite on your article.

I dont see much of a change except for the updates and the fact that it is a little slower than usual.

Things go in cycles here.

For a while you will have peace and harmony...like the JKF years then all of the sudden you have wars and people bickering back and forth....Like the Nixon years.

I just use it casually - I honestly don't know what a guide is. I still use a dial-up, so everthing is slow for me!!!
I like Gather's setup, but it doesn't seem like it's reached the tipping point yet.

Seems the same to me. I don't miss anyone who has left and haven't even really noticed anyone being gone, to be honest.

I never saw the guides really do anything that the regular members don't do on a daily basis and I never had any use for them anyway.

There are a few trouble makers that seem to be back in full force, but they come and go on a pretty regular basis.

I think several things have hit at once - some upgrading gone awry, the guide issue, the copyright issue (culminating in that discovered theft last week), and the recent server glitch that seems to STILL be giving some fits - on top of the usual petty squabbling between the "point sneeches" and the "I'm too good for point sneeches" causing a bit of a lull. It'll pick up when the dust settles.

Since their last upgrade, with the linking of "related" articles (which I hate, loathe and despise), the entire site has been painfully slow. We used to be able to get 400 comments on a thread, with a decent refresh rate. Now, once you hit between 200 and 300, you have to abandon the chat and start with a new article.

I'm sure it's tied to that stupid linking think, which requires a lot of searching and giant hits on the databases. And I hate, hate, hate it! I hate Gather using my original material to pimp the stuff of people I don't even know, that may or may not actually be related to anything I want to be linked with.

I'm just having trouble trying to catch up since I was "locked out" for a few days. I think it's time to just delete all my notifications and go on from here. I'm so sorry for all the posts I missed though.

I haven't been spending as much time here lately, but that hasn't been Gather's fault. (Except for the days that I couldn't get on at all) I have been busy doing other things on other sites. I try to keep up:)

Must be out of loops, but don't understand about the guides. It doesn't seem as lively anymore, I haven't seen anything from several of my connections lately and there are less articles of interest, which means it is more difficult to accumulate points.

Definitely not the same Gather now from when I joined last year!

I wonder what the goal of Gather is now. At first it was to write and share podstings. Now I think it has become a source for money. I'm not sure I like the money thing because it is not so much about wiriting good stuff to be shared.
