Yay! My three comments got deleted....

You know if you write an article about leaving gather...what gives you the right to delete what you want...now that makes me mad. There is this article calling all gatherites minions and simple minded. I just expressed I didn't like to be called that and I was deleted. Now I have something to talk about!

Deletion says so much about someone's character - unless the deleted was harassment, which I know yours wasn't. I posted to that guy too, I should see if he deleted me as well.

I was deleted the first day they could by a blatant plagiarist. Needless to say, I wasn't offended that he freaked out and deleted any comment not glowingly praising of his skill to "write" things he'd stolen off the internet.

Yeah, I just checked. I really like the ability to delete comments for the those times you attract a really nasty harassing troll - but the way he is using it is just pathetic.

I just went and checked on the plagiarist, as well - he now sets his articles to allow comment from connections only. Guess he got tired of people pointing out his thievery. @@

They show up in yellow on your comments list - that's how I noticed mine, I was on my content page and saw one of the ones shown was yellow.

I haven't been deleted or flagged . . . yet. Hopefully it'll stay that way but if some dufus wants to play baby games I won't let it bother me. I agree that I like the deletion feature if someone is harrassing you. I just wish the wretched chaper contests would end!

Unless someone is horribly nasty, or posts something that has nothing to do with my article or image, I will never delete any comments. I think it's a good rule, but people are going to delete anything and everything that disagrees with their point of view, and that's pretty pathetic I think!!!

I have not deleted any comments yet. But I have selected that option because I have had nasty trolls follow me, flag me, and leave nasty comments that have nothing to do with the article. I have even been called a racist because someone had no clue what the were talking about. But once they started asking questions instead of assuming. they realized what I actually meant.

I don't understand deleting a comment unless, like you said it is really rude, but it seems like some people would just delete differing opinions. Doesn't make sense to me.

Taylor I feel your pain, I believe someone reported an article I did as "comment spam" to the Gather authorities (I was a rookie here when I created that article). Oh to think people would be mature and tell you personally you're doing something wrong or send a friendly message! :)

I don't even bother to comment on all the articles from people CLAIMING to abandon gather forever. It's usually the same people over and over again and they never leave. They're just trying to make people feel sorry for them and comment so they get more points. It's really rather pathetic. These are usually the people who complain about the game type articles taking over gather and that most people here are simply begging for points. I just chuckle because that's what they're doing when they write articles claiming to leave. They're BEGGING for points in their own sad, pathetic way.
