Which candidate should Pagans fear more?

If you want a simple answer, I would think it is neither. For all the fuss we give to the faith of the various holders of the offices of President and Vice President the general notion of separation of church and state (the real one which is that government cannot establish a religion nor tell you what you can and should believe) has remained solid and strong no matter what faith the office holders held.

On the other hand, we have always had a generally annoying bias in our legislature. Normally it’s not a problem unless your religious beliefs start to differ from the generic norm. The biggest victim of this was Mormon polygamy which they eventually changed after much pressure (and military force) from the federal government. The use of “illegal” substances in worship services has always had a rocky history; Roman Catholics and Greek Orthodox alike had troubles in the era of prohibition and there was a case where one group insisted that they needed marijuana in their services. All of these problems came from congress, not from the executive branch.

Obama does not go to church there anymore.

If Christians practiced what they preach, they would support Reverend Wright. I've had a number of them (right here on Gather, even) damn me to hell, when their God really is the only one who has that right and they are not supposed to judge (yes, the remind others of that often, too). And they cry constantly about people not welcoming their ten commandments on every wall in public, yet they are upset that Reverend Wright's sermon called on their god to damn this country for violating those commandments and suggesting that the chickens have come home to roost because of that.

Doesn't make much sense.

I would think neither. I dont see the USA reinacting the Salem witch trials anytime soon.

Wasn't Oprah once a member of Rev Wright's church?

Oprah was in Rev Wrights church but she left for moral reasons, but Obama stayed until it was wise to leave for political reasons:

Lori - I agree that we will probably not allow hanging witches like they did in Salem, but pagan are definitely a persecuted minority. The term "Witch" definitely makes the average "muggle" uncomfortable. Here is a testimony from one Pagan:

This has got to be the worse election year. Neither party has someone running worth voting for. It's scary. The really sad part is if we get some decent third party, since to many people will vote party and too many people won't vote. We are going to be stuck with one or the other for at least four years. I guess it going to have to come down to who will be the least scary to have in power.

Rick, maybe if you would learn to read and write English, you'd see that there is one intelligent candidate running.
