Turtle Farm and Beach in Grand Cayman...Photo Essay

First the Turtle Farm...

They had little baby one as well as huge ones...

They let you hold them too, and they were very heavy!

An Iguana we saw there....

They had this cool stone wall that looked like shells...

Even had an alligator, or was it a crocodile??!!

A coconut tree.....

I don't know what these were. Any guess??

The beach in Grand Cayman...we snorkled for three and a half hours...it was gorgeous!

Nice shots. Looks like a great place to relax at the beach:)
I wonder what type of turtles they were.

Oh, and the flowering bushes are oleander.

We went there a number of years ago, and also visited the turtle farm, and held a turtle or two. Sometimes they were calm and just let you hold them; other times, they struggled in your hands until they were able to jump back into the water again. It was really HOT at the turtle farm - we were there in the summer, and I nearly keeled over! We loved Rum Point and also doing Sting Ray City! Did you guys go to Rum Point as well as 7-mile Beach?

Hi Robyn ~ I came back to say that it was your article here that caused me to think back on our trip to Grand Cayman in 2000. I enjoyed this so much that I got my old photo album out and decided to scan in a bunch of our pictures from our trip there and post them on Gather. You already posted a comment on that photo essay. Thanks for the inspiration! That's what we do here in Gather ~ inspire one another!

Wow, that beach is so absolutely amazing, I miss the ocean - and being able to share it with someone, don't get much better than that.......well, throw in a little rum punch, lol! The turtles are so very cool, and the Iguana quite the handsome fellow himself, now I'm not so sure about the cayman/alligator though. Think I would give him his space alright!! Great photos all, thanks for sharing them Robyn!
