The Moon was full and red as if it bled.
Plump farmer's wife yawped to husband; "Dinner!"
While murm'ring pines and hemlocks sucked earth; fed.
*
Tired farmer secured barn, to house did head,
Wondering what his wife had a-simmer.
The Moon was full and red as if it bled.
*
Old German farmer sighed on his straw bed
Shedding mucked-up boots by candle's glimmer,
While murm'ring pines and hemlocks sucked earth; fed.
*
Beaming wife, him to dinner table led.
She repeating vows; "I'll love you immer!".
The Moon was full and red as if it bled.
*
"My Heave'nly light, I love you!" husband said.
Gray-haired frau with carving knife a-shimmer,
While murm'ring pines and hemlocks sucked earth; fed.
*
Then, through a door ajar a lover sped;
They swiftly slaughtered the feeble farmer.
The Moon was full and red as if it bled,
While murm'ring pines and hemlocks sucked earth; fed.

You're a first-rate poet Curt, and I'm delighted to read these longer works.
Death was news to me.
