Tales Sail Breeze On A Sleighride

Chimney smoke sings songs into the night sky
Active packaging, bows and ribbons to tie
Goodnight, goodnight until the kiss of dawn
Gentle drifts inside, fairy tales and plum
Oh child, such memories, forever to explore
Bells of Santa's sleigh, nearing dawning's shore

Rubbing wonder eyes, looking at the clock
Something is stirring, maybe a big mouse
Waves of imagined stories, mind movie time
Slumber's wise directions, sleepy, sleepy time
Oh child, such innocence, forever replays
Sliding sound on the roof, was Santa's sleigh

Boxes of ornaments, gifts smile given
Hopeful heart, time unwrapping sweet dawning
Waves of happiness and a balm for peace
Snapshots, a wonderful Christmas Day feast
Oh child, slumber revisits, whispering night
Jolly old man, traces each sky, in moonlight

Each year's meridian, precious love smiles
Animated changes, brings with it a style
A touch here and there of fantasy
Under starlight, billowed sails, snowflake ease
Oh child, Rudolph's red nose, knows tales sail breeze
So lovely the giver, in gifts received

You can feel those things in the air during our Winter Festival here on Park Ave. With The Strip blocked off to traffic, taking a horse draw sleigh ride up and down the street, you can feel an old fashioned sense to the event without the noise spoiling the fantasy.

Just a delightful seasonal poem all the way through, William. You brought up a lot of holiday signifiers that wrapped me in my own childhood. You show your mastery of consistent tone throughout, in this case cheery, welcoming, eager for surprises, above all innocent and wonder-filled. I thought of the joy of reading the Byrd´s Christmas Carol short story, of seeing the Grinch Who Stole Christmas Again.

Oh-h-h... another moment, and I will begin to sing right on my working place: "Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh... Just woke up and quite surprised you found this. Glad it made you think of snow.

My wife was quite sick last night and is home today. Now she is resting, but I could be called at any second. I wonder if Heritage Duck Soup is healthy for her?
