Amuse me amusement park and make me glad if you're able
As I walk through your turnstiles ready to buy any fable
And my role as the rider on the merry-go-round of life
Asks a break in cadence not knowing repository strife
Befitting a marching tune where expression stares from dark night
Blue, oh so blue goodbyes, the firm asking price of sacrifice
Challenging maps from messengers who have seen the other side
Coursing veins synergetic as new ideas must be applied
Concrete jungles where innocence has no time for holidays
Culminating in nothing new as talking sifts the outrage
Defining rooftops as the sniper's spot and death broadly grins
Developing ways to meet your maker as fear grips within
Experimental essence of that holy or meant to be
Escaping clause of no oversight to measure certain keys
Exploding nightmares that come rushing by like cool evil wind
Expectations play like dancers who forgot their steps again
Forfeiture of empty treasure, forfeiture of vibrant life
Forever is the moniker of such foolish sought out vice
Goodwill suffered tragedy from a sick and violent man
Grimace at needless loss proclaimed and we'll do all that we can
Grief cuts through each obstacle saying enough to all the lies
Goodnight with dreams until tomorrow builds a new bridge of lights
Hopeful that war will rest its hand and truly give peace a chance
Holding up the scorched torch of freedom as lights playfully dance
Arsenal of freedom is most effective when silence shows
Bountiful respect for the rights of all to prosper and grow
Calling to everybody the young, the old, both boys and girls
Duty is the privilege to spread hopes of peace around our world
Everyday constant vigilance stopping lies from being told
Friendship being like a first place medal all can justly hold
Glad tidings we will bring you, isn't that a glorious thought
Heavenly, oh so heavenly, when peace becomes the goal sought

I especially love your first stanza and the use of the amusement park as a metaphor for life.

Would not that "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" be so costly, my friend. Excellent work, as always.
Amazed at the alphabetical pattern you worked into this one!
Did you find any polka dots?
This is wonderful and amazing metaphor of life. maybe someday we willl get off the merry-go-round to find sanity returning some day.
It is interesting for all the things that discourage, hope still lingers at the end.
You only got to H... I enjoyed that device, by the way. :)
Well done dear William,,,
Bless you,,,

By the conclusion of the third reading this poem appeared as a weaving..the first four stanzas the weft and warp and framework for the summation of theme ,the message, in final stanza..I step back and can view all the intricate weaving, the knots ,various hues of the material. The final stanza the powerful summation..culmination of all before it..the big picture,if you will..for me.
Years of lies, corruption and yet here we are waiting and hoping..our combined anger and grief from betrayal should have resulted in implosion years ago..and yet..we are a patient and tolerant people..or have we been effectively lulled into patience and false hopes..
Excellent tone throughout ~a controlled strength and then that final punch ..like a trial lawyer making a case.
Sorry I sometimes cannot see the forest for the trees and did not notice the alphabet use..
it may have been my mylar chapeau distracted..
