I received these photos in an email and thought them too incredible not to share with my Gather friends.
The Glass Winged Butterfly lives in South America.
A butterfly with transparent wings is rare and beautiful.
As delicate as finely blown glass, the presence of this rare tropical gem is used by rain forest ecologists as an indication of high habitat quality and its demise alerts them of ecological change. Rivaling the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings of the Glass winged butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of turquoise, orange, green, and red.
All things beautiful do not have to be full of color to be noticed; in life that which is unnoticed has the most power of all.

Keep posting the same quality contents!
Did you know that Harvard University has an amazing (anatomically correct) collection of glass flower replicas, as well as glass sea-life replicas?
I love butterflies!

Quite a statement to be sure.
Your quote is equally as strong, but right now I cannot help but think of all the grey men in the background of politics that pull the strings - who have the most power.
...I'll be more positive - once I've had my first shot of java. Thanks for a wonderful essay and great pictures - you brightened my morning.:)
Thanks for sharing the photos and for the beautiful quote accompanying it. ;)
Thanks.
