Reminds me of the story about the cracked pot feeling useless because he leaked water along the trail from the well, always arriving at the house half empty, until the master pointed out the row of flowers along one side of the trail - the side he carried the cracked pot on. The flowers never would have grown if it hadn't been for his leak.
