I had the opportunity to ride Sea World Orlando's new roller coaster, Manta, on Friday. Here are a few photos of it for those of you who love roller coasters, as I do...

Notice the spiral in this next shot...

We've watched it under construction over the past year, and been intrigued, but it opened last week and we had our first ride on Friday.

It's definitely an adventure (as you may guess from the photos.) The rider is face down, hanging, strapped in with even feet in braces. It's fun... but one should be prepared. When they say "no loose articles," they really mean it. Anything not fastened, is going to fall. Maybe in the water...

I look forward to the next ride, which I think will be more fun because I will be more prepared, but overall, I would so far only rate it about 4 out of 5.

Above and below, as seen from a distance...

The Kraken, as seen below, is still my favorite roller coaster... but harder to get a good shot of!

Wow, it looks like alot of fun!!!!
Even though it's not my favorite, it's pretty fun!
ooh, I didnt know they had a new one! i want to ride it now! awesome pics!
We have been looking forward to it for months, Chloe, and it's definitely an impressive one!
This is great. I know I would never be able to get on this one.
If you don't like roller coasters, you definitely would not like this one... and my husband, who normally loves them, didn't care for it.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE rollercoasters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me too! Come join me next time??
I wish!!!!!!!!!
I must admit, it LOOKED more fun than it was, but the bit of displeasure was mostly just from not knowing what to expect.
I love coasters, but hanging upside down....I am not sure about that..I have to see Manta in person
It's definitely different, Elaine; a bit hard on my neck, too.
Julie I thought it may be hard on the neck and back, I have to check before I ride this...my pinched nerves in my neck...I can't have them get worse.
Do you have a guest room? I LOVE roller coasters! The thrill. This would definitely be the best one I've ever been on. Maybe we could house swap? Do you like snotty teenage girls? It could work out if so. I'll leave them behind for you!
:-)
You could definitely come for a visit any time, Ellie!
I would love to retire and go around and visit all the people I've met on Gather. Even tho we grew up a state apart, we would have never met in the real world. Maybe some day.
:-)
That would be cool. My friend visited from Portland in March/April and I thought of you lots.
No thanks. This is the type of thrill I am satisfied to enjoy vicariously.
Great photos. Looks like a lot of fun except for the upsidedown portions. I couldn't handle those.
That looks like a LOT of fun, and terror. *grin*
Looks like fun, Julie. I wouldn't ride it but hubby would love it.
That looks terrifying! That is something I would admire from a distance. Looking at the photos is good enough for me!
I love coasters!!! There is one in Rye Playland in NY that is so much fun. Its the dragon coaster, and its one of the last wooded coasters left! I love how rickety it is lol. I would go with you Julie, it sounds like more fun then you can shake a stick at!
So friend, what was the lousy part of your weekend? Tell Pammy... I am a good listener! You still have my email, right? {{{HUGS}}}
wow, that is a HUGE roller coaster! I don't think I'd be too crazy about being upside down!! Great photo essay!
I too love roller coasters! They are sooo fun!
