I joined gather as a result of a bzz campaign from Bzzagent. I had no intention of staying around. I thought this site is just not for me. Then, one day, I was just playing around on the site and realized that I enjoyed it. I soon made friends and made money. Two wonderful combinations.
Through the Gather community, I have gotten to know a cousin that I had not seen or talked in nearly 30 years.
Through the Gather community, I have made some wonderful friends whom I will never forget. They have made such an impact on my life. I had surgery in Aug of 2007. My gather friends sent me cards and well wishes. I felt so blessed. I felt like these were friends whom I had grown as close to as my "real world" friends. I could never share all the wonderful blessings that I have received from these wonderful new friends. I sit here in tears at the blessings I have received just by knowing these wonderful individuals.
I would like to share with you, one such friend. A friend who is generous, compassionate and a good friend. Today, I want to show you the package that I received in the mail just today.
I was expecting it as the wonderful caring lady told me she was sending it to me. What I was not expecting was just what all she sent. This new friend of mine is such a kind, compassionate person with kids of her own. Yet, she took the time to reach out and share with me. She knew that I loved historical fiction. She knew I would enjoy these books.
Janet "Jax" B is such a wonderful friend. If you are not yet connected to her, I suggest you check her articles and photos out. I know you will just love her to death.
I just received an email from her. Her mother is in pre-op right now. Please remember her in your prayers and thoughts.
Jax, Thank you so very much. You are one of the reasons I stayed on gather. You are just great. I cannot wait to start reading these books. Yes, they are the kind of books that I enjoy.

I agree that Gather is a lot more than I expected it to be when I first joined the community.
Also...did I forget one? There are 5 of the Lewis books....should I look for it here?
I also joined Gather from Bzz Agent. Only I liked this place right away and was reasonably sure I'd stick around.
Such a great gift to send someone too. All was beautiful.
Gather has brought many incredible people into my life and it's a place where I can be all the different people I am.

I love historical fiction too. I will certainly check out Beverly Lewis. I recently discovered Loraine Snelling who also writes historical fiction. I'm reading and enjoying her series "Red River of the North' that starts with "This Untamed Land". It's about a Norweigan family settling in North Dakota in the 1870s. Although it is quite religious, that fits in the story very well. I hope you will check it out. I get my books at the library.
