Something you don't see every day in South Florida

After the sale a couple of weeks ago that we sold at in Davie we stopped in for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Lums. After we parked and got out of the car I saw something you don't see very often down here.

 

Davie is a town that has rodeo grounds with rodeos a few times a year and caters to the horse owners. It is a beautiful town that I love to go to. You often see horse back riders on paths. I don't see the riders come into town too often but there are places that still cater to the rider. On occasion you will see a rider going through a drive through too. I know this in not new to some people but I have always been a city girl and I just love this particular town.

lol, years ago when I was around 13 years old that was a common site. McDonald's on Davie road and the one on Griffin and Palm Ave both had hitching posts you could tie your horse to.

I like that too, its cool! I would love seeing something like that too cuz I like horses but its a really neat thing too!

How cool Karolyn! I too am a city girl and would be only too amused were I to see someone going through the drive through on a horse. Funny indeed. We don't ever see that here in Dallas, Texas but might in Fort Worth since it is more country and hosts national rodeos every year!

That is why I loved it so much Becky. Definitely unusual.

I am sure there are alot that do but not too many in Fort Lauderdale Robert.

Karolyn, I love going to Davie, because it is like a whole different world. Whenever we go over that side, my sons always yells "Cow!", "Horse!" etc., whenever they see one. We spend the past two years on our Danish farm, so it reminds them a little bit of home....minus the palm trees:) You know they have some of the best farmers' markets around Griffen Rd.

JR: I love going there. It is so much fun. It is amazing how much South Florida has changed. When I moved here in 1992 there were still alot of undeveloped land around. When I moved back in 2005 I couldn't believe the changes I saw. Especially in West Broward. My husband is a native so he remembers alot fo the roads that are developed now that were just farms and roads to no where.

You can see the wild ponies on Assateague Island here in Maryland. It is one of my favorite places.

Did you hear they dropped 2000 lbs of confetti on Times Square?! Geez!
