I tried and failed miserably... This morning, no one woke up on time... The cat scratched the three year old in the eye... My daughter couldn't find her tennis shoes, which she has to have for P.E.... My son had an accident just after I got him dressed... Fruit snacks got tossed out for a quick on the run breakfast... The little one stole the older one's library book and hid it... The list of little time consuming make you late things could go on for a while....
Oh how I love mornings like these... Nothing goes right and then you must excuse it at the school especially when you show up almost an hour late... Today's excuse-I had a temporary lapse in good parenting... I wonder if that will excuse my child's tardiness... My husband has gotten away with a simple "I don't know how to do girl's hair"... That was classic...
I cannot let it ruin my day... It is my husband who is always late... I on the other hand, am routinely on time or early... Days like this just burn my biscuits... Oh and the tennis shoes are at grandma's (thanks to my husband)...
Now I have the full picture... He set me up... Perhaps that would have been a better excuse... That's funny!!! I am laughing now... Here's to everyone having a GREAT day!!!

Jane- Thank you for your comments! I just hope my lil one doesn't read my mind and try the sharpie idea (he has already colored himself today)... He shows it to me and says "do you like my picture?!?!?" whenever he does something like that...
I have days like that as well. But I think you handle it alot better than I do.
I do agree with making them take responsibility though... I also believe that they need to see others taking responsibility... The P.E. teacher sat a bunch of kids out their first week of school, because they weren't wearing the "proper" shoes... That day I get a "nonparticipation notice" that I have to sign for not having my child prepared... I kindly responded with a letter back stating that it would be the job of the P.E. teacher to inform the students and parents what shoes were appropriate and not punishing them for the lack of complying with an unknown rule...
