My three year old son has the most beautiful curly blonde hair!!! It is down to his shoulders now... We tried to cut it about a year ago, but he freaked out... Normally, we would have ignored his little fit... This was more than a fit-it was almost surreal... He picked his hair up off the floor and tried to put it back on his head... When that failed, he proceeded to put it in his mouth and eat it!!! I have been fighting with him since then to keep him from eating hair... Hairbrushes cannot be within his reach or he'll pick the hair out of them and eat it... He is getting better about it, but he used to pull hair out of your head and eat it...
Still he won't let us cut his hair... Our little guy likes to wear pony tails and last week was sporting the double french braid... Most people think he is a girl no matter what he is wearing and he will correct them if they mistake his gender... With the braids, he wanted them out as soon as he was referred to as a girl...
I have talked to doctors and counselors regarding this hair obsession and none have ever heard of anything like it... The only recommendation I am getting is to let it grow out until he is ready or just cut it anyways... Personally, I want to wait as long as possible to cut it. I don't want him reverting back to the constant hair eating...
Has anyone ever experienced this with their own child??? Have you heard about this before??? Any advice or suggestions are welcome!!!!
