Feeling better today...

I'm starting to do much better....my computer hasn't acted up yet all day. And wouldn't you know it I am actually getting some work done. I even found a trial copy of Microsoft Office 2007 so I can finish editing this guys book for him. Yup I am a busy girl .... writing all the time. That is why I like it so much. I haven't been here long but already I have met so many people that I absolutely adore.

But if you are not connected to me go ahead press that button. :)

Now I have to clear up the matter of my son throwing things when he gets mad. Any ideas?

you know stickers are a good idea...I should let him pick some out...and if he wants to be good he can put one up and if he gets 5 in a row we will buy him a car! YOU ARE A GENIUS!

talking to him is the best method, tell him it is ok to be mad (that it is normal to get mad and to get frustrated) but it is NOT ok to throw, hit, or hurt anyone/ anything when he is mad.

Give him a few examples of wht it IS ok to do and see if that helps.

He just goes into a fit...he won't listen if we try and reason with him...this just fairly new to us. He's been pretty good until now.
I do have an idea, but first a question? How's YOUR aim?
Seriously, I'd explain that when he throws something, he must not want it, so you will throw it also....in the trash. Hide anything that he does throw until he gets the idea.
Has he just started school? Sometimes the temper tantrums are the result of something bothering them that they don't want to talk about. My son was like that but at a younger age. I couldn't get him to talk till one day I sat down with him in the middle of the road (it was a quiet street) and told him we weren't moving until he told me what he was upset about. After several minutes of fearing a car would hit him he broke down and that cured him.

Maybe just take the toy away :os? Mine is barely almost 3 so I am not sure! I threw his toy car today cause he brought it out again when I was trying to vacuum LOL! My husband started helping to move things so that I didn't have any more fits! I just hope I am not teaching my son that is how it's done! Uggggh I just lose it sometimes!

I'd take away any toys he throws, put 'em in a basket in the closet...soon he won't either have any toys to play with or learn not to throw them....have him earn back a toy by not having a fit for a couple days or so.
Anything he throws you take. He can have it back the nest day... if he throws it again the next day it takes two days to get it back. The second step is to give him an activity to do when he is angry such as jumping or stomping his feet until the angry is gone. It sounds like he is trying to get your attention so try to catch him being good and stating how you appreciate his cooperation.

I remember my daughter throwing a temper tantrum when she was five. I threw one right along side of her, when she saw how I looked acting like her, she never threw another tantrum. Another thing that worked for me was to simply ignore her, She couldnt stand it, she would say something and I would act like she was invisable. My sister taught me that one as she had children older than my daughter and she had already been there and done that. But it worked. I would bring myself on many different occassions right down to the childs age. lol Come to think of it, I dont think I ever grew up.lol

Thanks for the update and as far as the little one.....maybe tell him face to face how much it dissatisfies you and that you are disappointed in his behavior and if all else fails you can always give a spat on the rear and send to his room.
