I'm on a weight loss journey. I am trying to lose weight by exercising, making smarter choices with the foods I eat, and controlling my portion sizes. It's working pretty well, so far.
So, what's the best way you've found to lose weight? Have you lost a lot of weight? How much? How long did it take you to lose your weight?

but I did do VERY well when I was walking daily .... like 5 sizes well
Aside from that-
cut out soda (even diet soda)
eat protein in the morning for breakfast (ham omelet), as it's very filling and healthy
snack on fresh veggies or fruits between meals
eat light meals
walk after a meal for about 30 minutes
Forgo snacks after dinner if you can. If you can't, eat light, and make sure to be active
Drink water through out the day
Walking after meals helps with getting your metabolism, which will help speed the road to dropping extra pounds. Aside from that, you should do some light jogging, as well.
Heather....thanks for the tips. I don't drink any soda. Just water and soymilk. I eat oatmeal for breakfast a light lunch, a healthy snack mid-afternoon and a healthy, homemade dinner.
I didn't know about the walking after meals thing...I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the tips.
The best way is to actually shift how and what you eat but that's a lot easier said than done!
The only way I've found to really lose weight for a length of time was to exercise at LEAST 1 hour a day of aerobic burn. Keep it up for a month and the pounds will melt off. Keep exercising at least 3 times weekly for at least 40 minutes and it'll stay off. Once it's off, much easier to maintain than try to lose it again. BTW: Must eat lots of fresh veggies and watch your meat intake, keeping your portions down you can use a salad plate rather than a dinner plate!
ps: I'm inviting you to join "Thinner," my group aimed at keeping each other pumped at losing weight and offering tips for doing so!
I don't use a scale, so I am not sure how much weight I have lost, but I will soon be back in my size 8 clothes, which is my goal.
mainly it boiled down to 1200 calories. No white foods, whole grains. Once you reach a good weight build on the calorie intake until you stop loosing.
i lost a lot of weight this way but then decided I would eat sugary food and then totally lost track of what i was doing and now am almost back up to where i was. It becomes a lifestyle change, not a diet.
Three of the worst foods you can eat if you want to lose weight, White potatoes, white rice and white bread.
I have lost 77 pounds this year. Eating mostly salads. Tuna salad, taco salad. I do not eat bread of any kind except about once every two weeks. Peanut butter celery is a good snack.
I swim, I excersise at home to the celebrity fit club boot camp video.
My husband has lost 105 pounds in a year and a half. I will post his before and after pictures. I'm not brave enough to post mine yet. LOL
Good luck on your journey, I wish you success and motivation.
I like to eat when I am hungry.
I made my own version of Atkins.
- cut out 90% of pop/soda
- smaller portions
- walking everyday
- hula hoop 3 - 4 times a week
- healthier snack options - the 100 calorie snacks are a lifesaver!
- LOTS of water!
