The candidates claim they are almost identical.
You will make the ultimate decision on that.

Hopefully as the campaign goes on and they get more concrete then it will be easier to figure out. Now they seem about the same - platform wise. Now it seems the choice between them is more about style, and who can inspire.

Peter, you just inspired me to imagine all the candidates as toons, LOL.

Pamela is exactly right. If you get the opportunity, watch one of the debates and make up your mind for yourself. The ones from earlier in the campaign are probably available on YouTube.

I've watched all the campaigns, Karen, on both sides. My spirit runs closer to everything Obama says and his demeanor, but I never thought I'd be wanting to vote for someone who is said to be so far left.

Hillary voted with her party 97.1% of the time and Barack 96.5%. See a difference there? No. They vote the same way. Obama sponsored more bills with republicans in the same time period:

More liberal than her. She manufactured that too.

Not that you'll take an opinion from a swine or a brick but, for one thing, he wants to ban the possession of ALL handguns. This will force me to re-marry. It's an infringement on my right to bear arms and my pursuit of happiness in remaining a happy divorcee.

I just figure, no matter what they say, it is campaign speak and has no relationship to the truth anyway, so why fret? You have seen what the Clintons were like and what they have stood for for many years. I don't know much about Obama, really, but the fact that all of the "old home boy" politicians are trying to smear him so bad means that he must have something going for him. But, it's all politics and until we stop bending over and letting the politicians kick our hiney's, things will never change so I figure I'll make the best decisions I can with all the lies being thrown about out there and not try to put too much stock into anything anyone says. For me, their actions speak louder than their words and unfortunately, I never see them follow through on what they promise.

You got some good answers, especially from Jessie W. ... Candidates promise what they think they can get away with, not so much as after their election where they know they can get away with most anything (see GWB), but who they can fool into voting for them to get elected.

Some are just more honest that others ... but then in this world as it now exists, honesty will get you kicked out of the running ... I would like to think that Hillary has been "practical" (being "fluid" in positioning) in order to get the votes to get elected ... at which point she will THEN do what "I" would want her to ... get tough with the power of the Corporations and the PACs, lobbying corruption etc etc ... She is surely smart enough to know that IF she promised that up front she would never have gotten the support (money etc) needed to get elected in the first place ...

But that is probably all just wishful dreaming on my part ... so I will probably end up going with who my own intuition directs me towards at the moment ...

Remember, the people on the "Left" are nowhere as far left as the pundits on the "Right" want to believe ... all such labeling comes most often falsely from the far right IMnsHO.

Personally, I feel the problem is we keep electing politicians. It doesn't matter whether they are Dem or Rep, they are still politicians with their own agendas... which usually lies with whomever has the most money.

Sue, I don't have much time online today, so I can't argue with you, but I never called you a swine. On that post, I was thinking more along the lines of Mt 13:44 -46 in reference to pearls of wisdom, hidden treasure, which is why I said your heart isn't ready to receieve. "Love your enemy' is a hard saying, it calls for pearls of wisdom in your heart, and is pretty much like talking to a brick wall when the heart can't receive the wisdom. Your mind rules supreme, Sue, that's all I was saying to you. Your advice here shows that you don't unerderstand. A conversation with an enemy can't hurt, and might even clear up some misunderstandings. How do Castro and other world leaders actually see the U. S. ???

As for Clinton I don't like her mandate on health care. We se how well those mandates worked out in car insurance. We took down three fence posts after slidding on the ice. It didn't hurt the truck at all, and they RAISED our premiums $60. a month for the next year. How much do fenceposts cost anyway?

Oh, I see, Rosa. You weren't specific with what you wrote, so I didn't understand to what you were referring. You had written, "I also know what the Bible says about pearls. Feedback is pointless when you're talking to a brick wall."

I had assumed you were referring to the quote that says, "Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces." (Matt. 7:6).

I just vote for the person. I don't understand why they keep calling me a liberal.

good question... and how can they change parties after being elected from the other.. i have no answers... i really dont care about party affiliation, i care more about whether or not they will deliver what they say and how honest they try to be..
