Can someone please explain Barack Obama to me?
I have been following politics for a long time. I don't recall seeing as much enthusiasm for a candidate as there is for Barack Hussein Obama.
I cannot understand what the attraction is. What am I missing? What makes a mere mortal man, a man just like you and me--flesh and blood--so special that people cry when he speaks, and women are fainting at his words?
Mr. Obama has carpet-bombed the state of Ohio with advertisements; television and radio. His latest television spots extol his virtuous choice of careers. A youthful Obama chose to go back to the 'hood and do community advocacy instead of cashing in big on Wall Street after graduating from Harvard Law.
On top of his "hope" and "change" mantras, we are being told that this guy is some sort of miracle worker.
Barack the Wonderful has yet to get specific as to how he will handle the rogues and ruffians in Belgrade, Pyongyang, Damascus, the West Bank, Moscow, and in the Caucasus, just to name a few other "rough 'hoods" he may have to work his magic in. How will "hope" and "change" play there?
So what am I missing?
Can anyone explain to me why this guy is running away with all of the popularity polls in this country?
I don't get it.
Am I missing something?
What is the big deal?
Or is this all just fluff?

It reminds me of what I watched in a movie about Nostradamus talking about an evil leader.I am not fooled by him.I am trying to figure out where he stands because his ads only bring more questions no answers.
I love his wealth redistribution, American tax dollars to the UN and various countries who may or may not have ties with terrorism.

I think the whole phenomenon is really quite sad; I mean people acting all silly over a human being. All he does is give speeches that are peppered with the word "hope," given in a fake, black preacher-man cadence.

Hillary gave the elitist impression...she was very unapproachable whereas Obama is more down to earth.
I think his biggest strenght is his enthusiasm.

Obama is popular, not because of his name, but because Despite repeated statements to the contrary his published intentions for the USA are progressive, optimistic, forward looking and sound. His intent is to bolster the prosperity of the working class and middle class of the United States. His intent is to restore international confidence in the democracy we Americans are so proud of, and end hegemony and domination strategies world wide. His intent is to improve quality of life here at home, and to work with foreign GOVERNMENTS and organizations to raise standards of living world wide. He is uniquely qualified to accomplish these goals, or at least set the groundwork for doing that by, among other things, his ethnic background, his childhood experiences and his early development. He has demonstrated, through his entire adult life a philosophy of protecting the rights and opportunities of people who would otherwise be at the mercy of more powerful interests.
I just don't get it. Why do you not see all the positives? Is it just his middle name?

Obama is full of hot air.
He has recycled the same rhetoric that David Axelrod used with John Edwards. He is a blank slate that you can project on.
David Axelrod used this same rhetoric about "hope" and "change-a" with John Edwards. Nothing wrong with that, but it calls into question authenticity, that is all.
Besides, I can't see this guy talking to Putin. He'd poop his pants.

i just don't think his suit is filled out yet. he is an empty suit. he can give a good talk, he can move emotions, but he could never get putin, or others like him to take him seriously.

All I hear is how Obama doesnt have enough experience to be president. Well how did Bill Clinton get experience? By being president.
You cant take a class in it. Yes you can hold public office but the closest you can come to OJT is governor. And that is small potatoes to being president.

ok...so i'm ignorant. i just don't get all of the hype, emotion, blather behind "hope" and "change-a" especially after learning that the very same wordsmith worked for john edwards and used the same rhetoric.
i use the words "charletan" and "empty suit" because I hear a man promise the moon and the stars, when he has not had day-one of experience running any organization of any size. he has never made a budget, a payroll, governed anything, but I'm being told by people like lori that i'm ignorant because I don't swallow his rhetoric whole without questioning it.
