Let's Name the New Pup, That someone dropped off!

As most of you know, I have a problem with people, dumping animals where I live...This Sheltie pup wondered in 2 weeks ago today, hungry, burrs, in his wonderful hair. I came home the next day, and he was still here...I looked to see if he had tags, he didn't.... 

I tryed to find where this dear soul belonged, ran ads in New paper...and no one claimed him....after two weeks and no answer...

As always, he is welcome here...and My Dad fell in love...and he decided we would keep him and try to find him a good home...if not this is where he will live...

But He needs a name...any Idea's here is 3 pictures of the Beautiful Dog, I need your help...What do you think a good name would be for this Well mannered, sweet loving dog? That was left, and nobody wanted....SAD isn't it?

I also have a problem with people dumping off pets. There is an abunace of it happening here as well. With the foreclosures and stuff the animal shelter is being overwhelmed and turning pet owners away when they try to give up there pets. They are told to trya rescue or friends and family first. Which if someone really cared about their pet, they would of tried that already. So, the pet gets turned to the street. Which is sad.
I just got a new cat teh same way..someone tossed him out..When we took him in. He wouldn't even go near the front door. You opened it and he ran into another room.

Don't know why, but either Sam or George. Definately doesn't seem the type for a typical "dog" name.

I truely believe animal abusers and neglectors are amoung the meanest people on earth!! We animal lovers make up for it though!!!

Shelties originated in Scotland. So how about a Scottish name? I had a Sheltie named RILEY once. My stepdad found him wandering through the wheatfields on his way to work and set up a trap for him. No one ever claimed him so he became our much beloved dog!

He's just beautiful, what a shame. I think a name fitting for him will pop up in your head as soon as you get to really know him. You're his angel for sure.

My great aunt had a dog who looked like that. She called him Nick.

This guy looks like a Rusty to me.

He is a beautiful dog, why would anyone not want him? I would be inclined to call him either Sherlock or Holmes. Can't tell you why... :)

disposable pet syndrome is always sad. I'm always amazed at people assumption that the animals will be fine. So many starve, get hit by cars, attacked by predators, or if in ranching country, get shot. But hey, I guess they think it's ok, at least they didn't kill them. I'd rather see them put down then slowly starve to death.

It happens all the time, sometimes they are lost, but most of the time they are not...and it is just sad to me...when you take an animal to raise you should take it for it's life....

Well, Friends, I was waiting to take some more pictures of Jake...that is the name that was choosen....and he comes to it, and he sorta looks like a Jake don't you think...He is happy, healthy went to the vet Wednesday, shots, the works, and The Vet seems to think he is around 9 months old...no way of know for sure...so I will get busy and take some pictures of the hairless dog...we had to cut the burrs out...so sad...he also smelled like shunk...but he smells better now...10 baths later...I will write about Jake soon...

I think he looks like a Jake or a Gruff.
